Single Day EMDR Intensive Therapy- 6-hour session

What is EMDR? Click here for more information!

What are Intensives? EMDR Intensives are a powerful approach that offers faster healing for trauma, anxiety, and depression. Traditional therapy meeting times have been set by insurance, but research shows that this isn’t the only way to help clients reach their therapy goals, instead of 50 min. Once a week, you will set aside one 6-hour day to focus on your therapeutic work. During this time, you will deeply reflect and work towards healing from a significant past event. We only need to meet for one day, but if you wish to schedule additional intensives, we can discuss a treatment plan that suits your needs.

How does it work? First, we meet for a 15-minute consult to determine fit and answer questions. To prepare for your intensive, we meet for a 90-minute Pre-Intensive Interview to clarify your goal, review who is in your support system and stress coping skills, and identify specific memories we will work on together. I’ll customize your client workbook and assessments and send them your way. To help you prepare for your intensive, I encourage you to share as much information as you are comfortable sharing with me to support you in your healing work.

During the Intensive, we will do two things:

  1. Increase comfort and calm when thinking about past events.

  2. Enhance the things that help you feel good about yourself and your life.

I also incorporate guided meditations, mindfulness, breathwork, attention to the body, artwork, and more to help ensure you feel supported and confident in your healing journey with me.

After the Intensive, it is highly recommended, but not mandatory, that you meet for a 30-60 minute Post-Intensive Interview that helps you reflect on your most potent insights and discuss ways to incorporate the new changes in your daily life. We typically meet within 1-2 weeks of the last session.

When are EMDR Intensives not the best starting point?

*Defining “recent” means less than three months ago, but this time frame can vary depending on the degree of stability, support network, coping skills, and if therapy was obtained within those three months.

  • If a person has severe (e.g., *Recent psychiatric hospitalization, *recent attempts to end life, impacted work and relationships, etc.), long-standing, and untreated mental health/physical conditions that would prevent you from being able to be present for a 6-hour intensive.

  • **Severe and untreated debilitating seizures.

(***If you have had a history of seizures, or they’ve reduced in frequency recently, then you will need a doctor’s note to confirm that you can engage in this type of treatment.)

  • Active psychosis, or conditions that involve significant disconnection from reality (e.g., Schizophrenia, severe dissociation, etc.)

  • Active and unmanageable substance/alcohol use where daily and frequent use is needed.

  • Uncontrolled depression, anxiety, or eating disorders where a person may not be able to manage the emotional intensity of EMDR. If daily life stressors are already highly painful and unmanageable, this approach may not be the best for you now. Modalities like DBT and CBT can help you develop coping skills further to reach a degree of emotional stability where you can reap the benefits of EMDR.

  • Severe cognitive impairments or developmental delays that affect your ability to engage in therapy and understand this process or recall past events.

  • Having unstable internet access, unstable work, or unstable living situation.

  • Having an active court case where processing the event may impact your ability to go through the trial process.

  • If your doctor has told you that you have a “high-risk” pregnancy or if you recently experienced a miscarriage. Stress from processing may be overwhelming for the body mentally and physically. In these cases, intensives may not be the best starting point, and a gradual approach focusing on Grief therapy, CBT, or DBT approaches may be more indicated to help prepare you for EMDR Intensives.

    Benefits

    • Research shows that clients completing intensive treatment can make as much progress in the condensed format as in standard weekly sessions. This can remove weeks or months of living with trauma symptoms. The intensive treatment also helps with the toll trauma takes on work, relationships, marriages, parenting, and general well-being.

    • Session is typically completed in one day, significantly reducing work time. Wednesdays are reserved for intensives, but we can discuss other days if needed to work with your schedule

    • While a more considerable upfront cost, the shorter treatment duration can save money.

    • Waiting lists to see a therapist can be typically long, and weekly therapy may be complex to find or commit to. Intensives have much shorter wait times, as clients are through in the same week they start.

    • The World Health Organization recognizes EMDR as a recommended approach for trauma treatment, and many EMDR providers are often at the frontlines when there are disasters to help provide relief to survivors of trauma and mitigate the effects of trauma (e.g., 9/11 attacks, natural disasters, etc.).

    • Clients in California or Nevada can quickly access excellent treatment by making a virtual appointment from the comfort of their home.

Gender Affirming Surgery Letter- GAS (Adults only) 50-minute meeting

A support letter from a licensed mental health professional, such as myself –a psychotherapist or psychiatrist–may be necessary to be eligible for surgery. Likewise, most insurance companies require a letter from a mental health procedure to justify covering the costs of gender-affirming surgery.

You can also find other low-cost gender-competent providers who can write you a support letter through the Gender Affirmative Letter Access Project (GALAP), the list of WPATH members, or other online search engines like Psychology Today. Generally speaking, your provider should be a licensed clinical mental health professional (MD/DO, LCSW, LMFT, etc.) with at least a master’s-level education and a familiarity with the WPATH’s Standards of Care.

Please be aware that some insurance companies, plans, and surgeons have additional requirements outside the published SOC. I recommend that you verify the letter requirements with your specific insurance plan and the surgeon who will be providing services before scheduling a meeting with me to ensure the timely completion of your letter.

Current SOC v7 requirements

All letters must be:

  • Dated within one year of surgery

  • On letterhead

  • Indicate the type of procedure (top surgery, vaginoplasty, phalloplasty, etc.).

  • Signed by the provider with their license number

  • An intern or resident cannot write letters.

Top Surgery, Breast Augmentation & Facial Feminization Surgery:

One letter from a licensed mental health specialist (LCSW, MFT, LMFT, CSW, Ph.D., Psy.D., etc.)

Bottom Surgery:

Two Letters from two different licensed mental health specialists.

  • 1 letter can be from a provider who has only had an evaluative

  • It is highly recommended that at least one of the letters be from a provider with a doctorate-level degree (Ph.D., Psy.D., etc.).

Mental health provider letter(s) must include ALL of the following:

  • Patient’s legal and preferred name

  • Patient’s date of birth

  • Date provider/patient relationship began and the frequency of contact

  • A statement that the patient has been diagnosed with persistent, well-documented gender dysphoria/gender identity disorder and exhibits all of the following:

    • The desire to live and be accepted as a member of the opposite sex, usually accompanied by the wish to make their body as congruent as possible with the preferred sex through surgery and hormone treatment and

    • The transgender identity has been present persistently for at least two years, and

    • The disorder is not a symptom of another mental health disorder, and

    • The disorder causes clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning.

  • Documentation that the patient has completed at least 12 continuous months of living in a gender role congruent with their gender identity across various life experiences and events that may occur throughout the year.

    • That the patient can comply with long-term follow-up requirements and post-operative expectations have been addressed.

  •  If the patient has significant medical or mental health issues present, they must be reasonably well controlled.

  • Any substance use (marijuana, alcohol, etc.) is well-controlled for at least 6 months before the patient’s surgical date.

  • The provider must state their experience with treating patients diagnosed with gender dysphoria.

The letters are valid for one year from the original signed date, and any additional revisions can be made within that period for no extra charge. If the letter is not used within that year and another one is needed, another complete evaluation must be purchased.

Individual Weekly 50 minute EMDR Therapy

Transform Your Mental Health with EMDR Therapy

Finally move past what’s holding you back.

Life feels overwhelming. But it doesn’t have to.

You’re juggling a million things: work, relationships, expectations, and the pressure to always be on. But even with all the hustle, it’s hard to ignore those old triggers, past experiences, or feelings that keep creeping up. Whether it’s anxiety, trauma, or just the constant stress of daily life, it can all weigh you down.

EMDR Therapy could be the breakthrough you’ve been looking for.

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful, evidence-based therapy that helps you process and heal from emotional wounds, past trauma, and overwhelming life experiences. It’s proven to help with things like:

  • Anxiety & Stress

  • Trauma & PTSD

  • Self-Doubt & Negative Beliefs

  • Relationship Issues

    and more!

Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR works directly with your brain’s natural ability to heal, helping you to process memories and emotions in a way that feels… faster. It’s not about “talking it out” for months or years—it’s about getting to the root of the issue and releasing it.

Why Weekly EMDR Therapy?

You’re busy. We get it. But true change takes consistency, and with weekly sessions, we can help you make progress faster. Here’s how:

  • Focused Healing: Each week builds on the last. You’ll gradually feel lighter, more in control, and able to handle life’s challenges with confidence.

  • Real Results: EMDR helps you shift how your brain processes past trauma, allowing you to move forward—without getting stuck in the past.

  • Small, Effective Steps: With weekly sessions, you’ll stay accountable to yourself, keep the momentum going, and feel supported as you move through the work.

How Does It Work?

It’s simple, really. We start with a conversation about what’s bothering you. Then, we use the power of guided eye movements (don’t worry, it’s nothing crazy—just simple, rhythmic movements) to activate your brain’s healing process. As your brain works through past emotional baggage, you'll start feeling lighter and more empowered—more present and connected to the life you're living right now.

What to Expect in a Session

  • Safe, non-judgmental space: Our therapists are here to help, not judge.

  • A collaborative experience: We’ll work together to identify the root causes of your stress and trauma.

  • No “re-living” the trauma: We focus on processing—not rehashing the details.

  • Breakthroughs that last: EMDR is known for its ability to help people move on from what’s holding them back in ways that feel quick, permanent, and meaningful.

Is EMDR Right for Me?

If you’re struggling with anxiety, past trauma, chronic stress, or just feel like you're stuck in certain patterns, EMDR can help. Here’s who benefits from it:

  • People who’ve experienced trauma, whether big or small.

  • Those with persistent anxiety or stress that’s holding them back.

  • Individuals who want faster results without months of endless talking.

If you’re ready to move past your past, EMDR therapy can help you get there. And the best part? You don’t have to do it alone.
